The Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) is pleased to offer the Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVMA CVA) program to its members. Your veterinary assistant has the opportunity to advance their knowledge and learn the skills needed to increase their value as a member of the veterinary practice team.

CVMA Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA) Introduction

CVMA recognizes and certifies the designation of Certified Veterinary Assistant (CVA). As such, the CVMA, in cooperation with Animal Care Technologies (ACT), is proud to offer veterinary medical personnel the opportunity to expand their professional growth by offering an online CVA program.

This CVA program creates a solid foundation for animal health professionals, enabling them to become more informed, skilled, and trusted members of their teams.

Online Education

Approximately 40 hours of videos and web based training on basic veterinary assisting fundamentals.

Skills Development

A CVA must demonstrate competency in dozens of foundational skills.

Work Experience

On-the-job training is an important element in this educational model. The CVA is required to accumulate 500 hours of practical, supervised work experience.
